Our MANDOCELLO MC-5 is our recreation of the original K-5 mandocello also well known from the Gibson's production in thirties. This is in fact a jazz guitar with eight-string neck, but there is also absolutely different kind of internal bracing system. While the MC-4 is more robust according to the sound, the MANDOCELLO MC-5 has more concrete tone. That's why it is possible to use it mainly for transpositions of classical music, playing in mandolin orchestras etc. For our mandocellos we use only top quality tonewoods all selected and chosen by master luthier only. Top is made from European spruce (very often older than 50 years), back sides and neck from high curly European maple. Also for this kind of instrument we use the Virzi tone producer.
